Emma
Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, was born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both attorneys. After moving to Oxfordshire around the age of five, she enrolled in The Dragon School. From the age of six Emma knew that she wanted to be an actor and for a number of years she trained at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre school in which she was taught the art of acting and dancing. Her performances had been in numerous Stagecoach or school shows before she was 10 years old. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the movie version of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British novel was first cast in 1999. Casting agents found Emma through her Oxford theater teacher. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint after 8 auditions. They were selected as the three lead characters Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. Emma's debut on screen was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's release in 2001. It broke all records for opening day and weekend sales, and it was the top-grossing 2001 film. Reviewers have been highly lauding the film as well as the performances by the three young actors. The Daily Telegraph, an influential British newspaper, called Emma's acting "amazing". Emma was awarded five nominations for her exceptional performance. Later, she won the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actresses of an Film.
